This weekend I'm headed out to Joshua Tree to see The Entrance Band. They're one of the best bands around and some of my favorite people! They tour the country in a yellow school bus and surf waves along the way. I love their spontaneous electric energy & how it inspires public nudity, dancing & Dionysian behavior. Entrance has a Kickstarter to finish their album. Help them out if you can!

Fiber artist Diane Itter. She emerged in the 1960s creating bright colored fine threaded pieces. Each work took her about one to one-half weeks of 8 to 10 hour workdays.

After blogging about Sheila Hicks my lovely friend Kristin Korven told me about Claire Zeisler. In 1962 Claire began making freestanding, three dimensional fiber sculptures. Her inspirations included pieces from her vast collection of Paul Klee, Joan Miro, Picasso & a variety of amazing ethnic objects.

Fiber sculpture artist Sheila Hicks. In 1957, while in South America she developed her interest in working with fibers. After founding workshops in Mexico, Chile, and South Africa, and working in Morocco and India, she now divides her time between her Paris studio and New York. Her works are in the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and Centre Pompidou in Paris to name a few.
